Sunny February Pier Update

Thursday 15th.: water temp 59.0 NW 10-18mph in the a.m. / 57.9 NNW 11-18 by noon and 58.6 NNW 12-15mph in the p.m. The water was crystal clear. There were small Bonito yesterday afternoon and this morning. Iquan, Kim, Robert, Hayden and Brenda worked on the Bonito. Jack got a nice Black Drum.

 

 


 

 

Friday: water temp 57.2 E 7-9mph in the a.m. / 59.4 SSE 18-22mph in the p.m. The water was clean. There were more small Bonito today like these George and Brenda caught.

 


 

Saturday: water temp 59.4 ESE 8-15mph in the a.m. / 60.8 SE 7-9mph in the p.m. The water was clean. Dom got a Bonito and a Black Drum.

 


 

 

Sunday: water temp 58.6 N 10-18mph in the a.m. / 59.0 WNW 7-14mph in the p.m. The water was clean. There was cold rain and the pier was empty in the morning. Just before noon, the sun came out but it stayed very cold all day.

 

 


 

Monday: water temp 56.1 N 7-10mph in the a.m. / 59.4 N 6-12mph in the p.m. The water was clean.  Hayden got a keeper Flounder this morning. Brenda got her first Squid of the year.

 

 


 

Tuesday: water temp 57.2 NNE 5-7mph in the a.m. / 59.5 NE 5-10mph in the p.m. The water was crystal clear. Two Flounder were caught in the morning. Rob got an 18 inch one and Hachid’s was a tiny bit short and had to go back. Jose got a small Bluefish. Lee caught a nice Whiting in the late afternoon.

 

 


Wednesday 21st.: water temp 58.6 E 6-10mph in the a.m. / 57.6 SE 7-9mph in the p.m. The water was clean. The morning started cold and slow. Later the Black and Red Drum came in. Rob and Jack put nice ones on the deck. (see: Rob-14-345738b4; Jack-15-43a7060c, 16-1e6cd348)

 

 

 


Red Tide status: The current status of red tide in Northwest Florida indicates that K. brevis was observed at background to high concentrations in Bay County, background to very low concentrations in Gulf  County, and background concentrations in Franklin County. Additionally, significant activity has  been detected in the Panhandle, with four samples registering bloom concentrations exceeding the threshold.
